Thai Street is a brilliantly affordable place to dine down in Wynyard Quarter. Mains are mostly under $20, so considering the fact it’s in one of Auckland’s most expensive areas, that’s great value.
It was a mixed bag as far as service went, annoyingly a couple who came in after us were served way before us despite our reservations – but it was redeemed towards the end when we were welcomed with more attention. I’d like to give them the benefit of the doubt on that!
I love the fit-out too, lovely digital prints on the wall which looks like floating lanterns, adds to the warmth and atmosphere of the place.
All in all this was some good, heart-warming food – and come winter, that’s what you want really!
The mixed entree was OK, nothing too special really. The Pad Thai was good – nice & fresh.
On the other hand, my Mussaman Nua – a slow-cooked beef shin with potatoes and peanuts – was BEAUTIFUL. The beef was cooked to perfection, the flavours were amazing. I would definitely travel across town for that dish.
Yummy Curry = Happy diner
